The simplest remedy to a Happy HOLI is easier than you think!!!

From red to green….violet to orange….all the worst colours of Holi had already screwed up my hair.

This was at my last holi party which was at one of my friend’s place. U know!!…I was promised that only natural colours would be used. But finally do you know what happened??….I was all drenched with the world’s weirdest colours. But I still continued to enjoy the party. And actually its true, once you enter a HOLI party you just don’t care what the color is that is being used….you just start to have so much fun and then could not care less!!!

After going home I realized that I had screwed up my hair big time. Dry…weak… discoloured….and god knows how many more problems I had to face. After all this madness…the sorrow of spoiling my hair - the only thing I was proud of was….

And you know what I found out.. I could have prevented this damage so easily…. all I had to do was to apply a coconut based hair oil to my hair in order to protect it from those harmful chemicals.

I immediately applied a coconut based hair oil… to try and get the color out of my hair and make it less dry. But you know what.. some element of damage would already have happened. If only I had oiled my hair before!!! One more important lesson I learnt was that… Hair can turn brittle and extremely dry if colour remains in it for a long time. This is due to the chemicals in the colours and the dust in the air. A good massage or Champi with coconut based hair oil will surely solve all your hair related issues.

Advice to all my friends out there….please use natural colours only and more importantly, please oil your hair with a coconut based hair oil before entering any holi party of your friend…u never know which colour will be on you the very next moment.

This Holi don’t stay at Home!

Holi, a festival of colour and an indicator of spring setting in. There was a time when Holi had happiness and fun flavour attached to it. Holi, was considered as one of the most vibrant festivals, which is celebrated across the nation in different ways. Different people preferred different ways, while some people played Holi with wet colours others preferred dry colours. However, these days, colours made in synthetic base are also available. These colours are harmful for the skin and hair. These harmful colours have created a fear in peoples’ mind and increasingly, many people do not go outdoors because of the fear of hazardous effects of synthetic colours on skin and hair.

According to a research women prefer to celebrate the festival of colours, while staying indoors. The reason being that they are paranoid of colours affecting their hair, leaving them tangled and dry. This fear is not baseless, as with use of more and more chemicals and synthetic agents in colours and gulal, playing Holi has become a risky affair.

However, there are ways in which these harmful side-effects can be minimized and the festival of colours can be enjoyed. Only a bit of caution and care is required. Here are a few tips for making your Holi this year, fun and joyful, minus the hair worries, so that you can play with colours to your hearts content. The icing on the cake is that the ingredients required to protect your hair from color are available at home only so its easy on the pocket too.

So without further ado, following are the tips that can help you enjoy Holi

• Before going to play Holi apply a coconut based oil to the hair. It is said that the oil will form a
layer over the hair and when you will wash you hair the colours will come off easily.
• Apply moisturizer to your hands, face and all the exposed body parts.
• Apply dark colour nail paint to your nails so that the nails do not get colored. Later remove the
nail paint.

Thing’s to do before Holi

Holi, a festival of colours but for the past two-three years it is a time I have started to dread. I just can’t convince myself to enjoy the festival, the reason being: the side effects of the colours on my hair and skin, since my skin is sensitive and acne prone. During school days I never worried much because before going out to play Holi with my friends, I remember my mother used to apply coconut based oil. This was a ritual followed in my house not just during Holi but every time before a hair wash. Hence after washing it a few times my hair would regain its usual lustre and all colour would get eventually washed out. But when college happened, things changed. I got busy I rarely used to apply oil and I didn’t realize that my hair was losing shine, not only because I wasn’t applying oil but also the added damage of pollution and dust. Last year a little before holi, my elder cousin came by. She was looking forward to playing holi and here I was, very reluctant about stepping out of the house. I just could not bear any more damage to my skin and this time, my hair as well. I told her the reason why I did not want to play holi and that’s when she opened up her big secret about protecting her hair during the HOLI time: Before going to play Holi apply coconut based oil to the hair. It is said that oil will form a layer over the hair and when you will wash you hair the colours will come off easily. Hair can turn brittle and extremely dry if color remains in it for a long time. This is due to the chemicals in the colors and the dust in the air SO remember not to forget your head massage with the coconut based hair oil…. So that not only you, but your hair also will have a “Happy HOLI”. A happy hair HOLI to one and all!!

Maintaining Colored Hair

College days are often fun when one is care-free and is ready to experiment with the new trends be it in hair or clothes. So after long arguments with myself, I decided to throw caution to the wind and colour my hair. But when I finished coloring my hair; I realized that something was amiss…my hair was not looking all that great also.. I mean it was looking nice and all; but it just ws not looking absolutely great as I thought that it would…It just was not looking ”WOW” you know.

After a few days inspite of doing everything that my hair stylist asked me to do, just after the first few weeks my hair started looking completely opposite of what I wanted it to look. I shampooed and conditioned my hair regularly as per the instructions of my hair stylist, but still, my hair looked worn out, unkept, giving me a look that I dreaded the most. I didn’t know to do, I spoke to my friends who had colored their hair earlier and asked them for tips, hoping that their experience could help me. But nothing they said made any difference to the condition of my hair.

I finally realized that the main reason why coloring my hair was not looking great.. was that my hair itself was not completely healthy and well nourished.

Still searching for a solution, I finally decided to listen to my elder sister who all this while kept insisting that my hair was just dry and needed some oil. Having tried all the other options (which didn’t yield desired result), I decided to use a coconut based hair oil. After oiling my hair regularly for about 2 weeks, I could notice some improvement in the condition of my hair. Yes it was an unbelievable but joyful moment for me. My hair condition was improving slowly. I then started believing it was the oil that was improving my hair, I started using it on a regular basis, and it has really helped me, my hair now looks better than it was even before I oiled it, only if I listened to my sister a little earlier, anyway its better late than never. And best of all, before a party I was supposed to go to.. I colored and streaked my hair again… and you should have seen how the colors looked… they looked absolutely fantastic… everyone at the party was completely raving about it!! And all bcoz my hair was healthy and well nourished… Really my coconut based hair oil did wonders….!!!

Save your hair this HOLI

Its spring time and Holi, the festival of colours, is just around the corner. Being enthusiastic about everything that life has to offer, I love celebrating all the festivals and Holi is no different. But we all know that chemicals used in the colours can be exremely harmful to us, specially our hair.

The colour whether dry or in the wet form when meets our hair has an extremely bad effect on our hair, causing severe damages like hair fall, ruining he quality of the hair and at times even hampering its growth. Well my intention is not to stop you from enjoying the festival of colours but to enlighten you about the simple remedy to all these problems. The remedy is a coconut based hair oil- yes you read it correct.

Skeptical? So was I till I hadn’t tried it. I discovered this magic remedy myself, last year before going to play holi, I was painting my nails to prevent the colour from ruining my nails, and wondering how could I protect my hair… I remembered that the year before last my hair was badly affected by the colours and I wanted to save it from damage this year. But I didn’t know what to do… suddenly I could hear my sister’s voice ringing in ears. “ A Coconut based hair oil will help you protect your hair,” but I was not sure whether it would. Since I had no better option in mind and thinking that there was no harm trying, I oiled my hair.

After enjoying the festival to the hilt with my friends, I came back home and went to wash off the colours. Hoping that my sisters’ advice would come true.
And my sisters’ advice did materialize and the entire colour went from my hair in the first wash itself. Something that hadn’t happened with me before. Earlier I had to wash my hair 4-5 times for the colour to go. It actually worked!!!

So a Coconut based hair oil if applied on the hair before we go to play holi can be of great help, it is said that the oil acts like a protective cover on the hair and the scalp. It prevents the chemicals in the colour from reaching the roots or even affecting the hair particles. It is the amongst the most effective and safest way of hair protection.

So iss HOLI… Jamm ke khelo, Bindass.. don’t worry abt your hair and enjoy life!!!

Coconut based oil is uncool — I don’t think SO and neither should you!!

I remember the time, while still in school like in my 9th n 10th grade, when my friends and I used to compete with each other for looking hot and happening. These competitions used to be fun for me out of home but once home, I used to have a hard time. In order to have a look that’s was in I used to refuse to oil my hair, much to my mom’s chargin.

But then I have changed my opinion thanks to a hair grooming workshop I joined during my vacations. There the participants were taught about hair texture, nourishment required by our hair etc. etc. Now let me first clear my stand on these workshops, I am not the one who would spend money behind these self grooming (boring) workshops. But I joined to give company to my friend and secondly I had anything better to do during my vacations. But as the sessions went on I started enjoying it. I also learnt a few startling facts about hair care.

At one of these sessions I became aware about the advantages of oiling our hair.

And it was then that I realized what a fool I had been not to oil my hair with Coconut based hair oil.

Just look at the advantages that it gives:

• It lubricates and conditions the scalp, helping to prevent flakes and dry scalp without the use of harsh chemical shampoos.

• It helps enhance blood circulation in the head and neck area. When the scalp is “tight” from stress, circulation and hair growth are impeded.

• It helps relax the scalp and increase pliability.

• It helps strengthen the roots of the hair and nourishes the hair-shafts, promoting new hair growth and strengthening current hair.

• It helps soften and condition the hair, making it more manageable.

• It spreads the natural oils of the hair, increasing hair luster and vibrancy.

• It helps protect hair from the damaging effects of the sun and harsh weather by improving resiliency over time.

• It is replenishing and rejuvenating for dry, damaged hair, and helps prevent excessive brittleness and split-ends.

So there you are….

It is definitely not “un cool” to oil your hair… contrary to that it is very very cool!!!!

Trust me…Oiling hair can be fun…go on see it for yourself.

Old methods, but benefits remains the best there is!

In today’s time where getting to work from home and back is nothing less than an achievement, my hair suffers the most. After every bike ride, “ahhhh……ouch……” is what I scream the moment my comb touched my hair… and to make it worse its not only hair getting tangled but dust, dryness, knots, split ends etc etc etc are all the problems that revolve round my head. It’s a vicious circle.

I did experiment with various shampoos, conditioners, trimming hair every time to reduce the split ends and at the end what I found was just 50% of the hair left with no length at all….and then I could hear my mother-in-law’s words ringing in my ears “why don’t you apply a coconut based hair oil to your hair… l” I decided then and there that it was high time I tried this completely sure shot food for my hair.Yes you heard me correctly.. I said “food” for my hair.

And so when I tried this much coveted coconut based hair oil;to my amazement, this remedy seemed to work for my hair where all modern ones had failed. A coconut based Coconut based oil gives the hair the much required nourishment. Its unique chemical structure enables it to harmlessly clean, beautify, nourish and protect your hair. Coconut based oil for the hair whether taken externally or internally, is naturally very effective. The condition of our hair is dependent on our overall health. No shampoo, conditioner, lotion, cream, spray, foam or any other product, can single-handedly give us enduring healthy hair. The positive effects derived from each of these new age products are extremely temporary or short-term at best.

Hair care is much more than skin deep. Like everything else in life, the approach for hair care must come from within. True healthy hair begins at underneath the surface of your scalp. Externally using a coconut based hair oil for hair certainly has its benefits. But don’t forget its internal application. Genes, stress, illness, malnutrition, medication, hormonal imbalance, etc. all have something to say about your hair’s well-being. For best results, I suggest that you apply it directly on your hair and scalp. The reward is virtually instantaneous and it’s such a fantastic conditioner. Do this on a daily religious basis and it’s going to be hard not to have beautiful hair. Give it a fair try. What’s there to lose?

Lastly some more benefits of coconut based hair oil making your overall body fit:

Solving Split ends!!!

Once on my way back from office, was fiddling with my hair. Suddenly I realized splits! For a moment I felt that there was some problem with my eyes. But noo! My hair really had split ends. A problem I had always dreaded! Had always heard about it from my friends but couldn’t believe it was happening to me! I immediately hit the search tab on the internet to find out that that Split ends are caused when hair is damaged, either by harsh shampoos, too much exposure from direct sunrays or a hair dryer, perming or bleaching or very often simply because the tips of hair are very old.

The only cure for split ends is to have them trimmed off; if left, they may split up the hair further, making it look dull and lifeless. Following were the treatments suggested to me:

• Mix 1 tsp honey with 2 Tbsp coconut based hair oil, then beat in 1 egg yolk. Massage on hair in small sections. Wrap head with shower cap for 30 minutes. Rinse and shampoo.
• Massage hair and scalp with warm coconut based hair oil. Wrap hair securely in a towel. Leave oil on hair about 8 hours or overnight. If left on overnight, put a shower cap over head to avoid staining pillows and bedding. Wash hair, and then rinse with a vinegar /water solution.
• Hot Oil Treatment
1/2 cup coconut based hair oil
1/2 cup boiling water

Place your coconut based hair oil and boiling water into large glass bottle or jar with a lid. You may need to wrap a towel around the bottle to avoid burning yourself. Shake very well until oil is emulsified. Massage into hair, taking care not to burn your head. Put a shower cap or plastic bag over your hair and wrap your head in a hot towel that has been soaked in hot water then wrung out. Leave mixture on your hair for 1/2 hour, then shampoo as usual.

Remember taking care of your hair is also your job. Don’t ignore it!!

Whtz That Gray??

One day I get this freak fone call from priya. Hey!! Priya is my best pal, who. Priya was teased by her nasty cousin for having gray hair! Priya is just 17 yrs old! Some days back, some people asked her if she has streaked a piece of her hair gray! No doubt she was heartbroken… After noticing her grey hair, she was stunned for a moment. Couldn’t believe that her hair could turn gray at such an early age. She was more scared about how our other friends would react. She almost went into depression. Since I was really was worried about her, I checked out some reasons about premature graying of hair n this is what I got to know….

• Faulty diet
• Mental worries and lack of vitamins
• Heredity
• Unclean condition of scalp, etc

Also found various remedies to it:
• Maintain a nutrient rich diet
• Avoid devitalizing foods, soft drinks, etc
• Massage scalp with coconut based hair oil at least three times a week
Some really simple and effective remedies include:

(P.S. These worked for Priya!)
Tip #1: Rub Indian gooseberry ( also known as Amla ) into the scalp regularly. Your grey hair will turn black in one month.

Tip #2: Drink butter milk with a 2 teaspoons each of yeast and wheat germ will prevent and cure premature greying of hair.

Tip #3: Grate some fresh ginger. Mix with honey and place it in a jar. Eat 1 tea spoon everyday.
Finally would mention one thing that graying of hair always doesn’t mean that the person is getting old. It could many a times be a disorder. So never make fun of such people specially teens. What is important to remember is that with certain right things this can be easily prevented.

Wanna Know the secret…?

Last nite was awesome! I still feel woooed and watched and special!

Yesterday was Ruchi’s birthday party. It was her special day…but do you know who was the highlight of the evening…yup – yours truly!

I looked ravishing…!! (how subtle can I be! Lol!) well…actually my hair looked ravishing…n gorgeous…n mesmerizing! Hey…these are compliments I kept receiving all evening! It turned out to be my ‘happy hair day’ a little more than it was Ruchi’s Birthday! I’m not complaining for sure…but then who will with all the attention?! J N to think of it, I had done nothing special – just wore my long, dark, think, silky hair as it is…no unusual efforts at all last nite.

It pays off to regularly take care of your hair…your crowning glory (as it truly was last nite for me!)…Im no expert, but if the proof of the pudding is in the eating (you know what I mean…!)…then lemme share some valuable tips with you on how you can take care and manage your hair effortlessly….

Firstly for curly hair:

Since curly hair is prone to dryness, first apply coconut based hair oil and then a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, should be used regularly.

For wavy hair:

This kind of hair generally doesn’t need much effort. One thing to be kept in mind is to use shine enhancing shampoo, after applying oil on the scalp. So that the hair look more attractive and detangled. Remember the shampoo alone will make the hair dry! You must use a coconut based oil before .!!

For straight hair:

Since straight hair tends to lie flat against the scalp when it accumulates grease, it is suggested to rub a little oil on the scalp to counterbalance the grease secretions and then use deep-cleaning shampoo.

I‘m sure this would help…. ‘Happy Hair Day!’ to you!!!
